FAQ

What is Microblading?

Microblading, also known is a procedure categorized under permanent makeup, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine.  The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra fine needles and each 'hair' is gently etched into the skin, giving an incredibly natural and realistic look. Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrow and is excellent for those wanting to enhance their brows or who have little to no eyebrows, thinning brows from age or over tweezed brows. Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color and skin tone will also be taken into consideration.

How long does it take?

For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 1-2 hours. During this session, the brow technician will shape and style the client’s brows and would not start until the client was 100% happy. We then follow with pigment color selection.  Once the client is satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure.

The client is to come in for a follow up visit in order to have any minor necessary touch ups. The second Microblading session takes place after 4-6 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

How long does it take to heal?

Your brows will go through 4 stages. When you leave your appointment you will love your brows, but they may look a little bold. Your brows will intensify in colour after the first few days, this is Stage 1. You will enter your shedding stage any day from day 7-14, (Stage 2). We provide you with 3 products which are tailored specifically to prevent bad downtime. Roughly 80% of our clients report no scabbing, which is amazing! If you don’t flake, your brows will just slowly lighten (Stage 3). This happens around week 3 of your healing time. By week 4 your brows should reach their truest colour, as the pigment slowly rises to the surface of the skin. This is Stage 4, you may notice your brows are back, just softer than when they were first done.

Don’t be afraid of the healing process! Clients tend to be surprised at how good their brows look even through healing stages.

Is the touch up session necessary?

Yes! A touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled.  Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color for the whole year!

Can I get my touch up session sooner than 4 weeks?

Touch up sessions should not be done earlier than 4 weeks after initial microblading session as pigment color has not fully settled into the skin. Most importantly, this is to prevent scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.

Is it painful?

The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none.  The most ‘pain’ you will feel will be in the first 5 minutes of the treatment, this is described as a cat scratch or a few hairs being plucked at once. Once the anaesthetic is applied you will feel hardly anything at all.

How long does it last?

Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime.  Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: patients who tan, uses products with AHA or Glycolic Acid with fade faster as your skin will resurface faster. Each individual's color retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 12-18 months. Clients can let the microbladed area fade over time, but please note a slight shadow may remain. without a top up.

When should I have a top up? (12+ months)

Ideally the brows must be at least 40% faded before having another top up. We recommend no sooner than 12 months. This really helps the skin retain crisp hairstrokes & can stop them from looking blurry over time.

What is laser tattoo removal?

Laser tattoo removal uses targeted light energy to break down tattoo ink. The laser beam shatters large ink particles into smaller fragments, which can then be more easily removed by the body's lymphatic system.

Is laser tattoo removal painful?

While there is some discomfort during the treatment, pain levels depend on many factors such as how big the tattoo is, how deep into the skin it is, pain tolerance etc. Most removals are very quick meaning that any discomfort is over quickly.

How many laser sessions will I need to have?

As with pain level, the amount of sessions needed depends on many factors such as tattoo colour, how deep the tattoo is and the size of the tattoo. We usually recommend 2-3 sessions on brow tattoo’s, however some clients may only need 1 session. For body tattoo’s we will be able to tell you a rough estimate of sessions needed during your appointment.
